National Foal Championships winner announced
Caddyshack B, a bay colt bred and owned by Sylvia Dixon and Beasley Sport Horses of Schomberg, Ontario is the winner of the Canadian Sport Horse Association’s National Foal Championships 2011. A Canadian Sport Horse gelding and his rider have been named to the United States Equestrian Federation’s Eventing High Performance Training Lists to participate in training and development programs in 2012. The athlete/horse combinations on the lists will be invited to train this winter with U.S. Chef d’Equipe and Technical Advisor Capt. Mark Phillips. Three CSHs in Mark Todd clinic
Three Canadian Sport Horses were among the mounts used by some of Canada’s top event riders in a two-day clinic with World Champion and Olympian Mark Todd in early November. The clinic at Ghostwood Farm in Hockley Valley, part of a fundraiser for the Youthdale Treatment Centre Riding Program, was organized by veterinarian and eventing enthusiast Dr. Usha Knabe. No Hickstead semen available for North America
Unfortunately, North American breeders hoping to buy Hickstead semen are out of luck. The agents for the late great show jumping stallion say there is none in North America and the approximate 50 doses available in Europe cannot be shipped to North America. If you have a mare in Europe, there is a slight chance you may be able to get a dose, although details on the availability of the European semen have not been confirmed. CSH and junior rider win in Washington
At the 53rd Washington International Horse Show (WIHS) the last week of October, KC van Aarem of Woodbine, MD, and Canadian Sport Horse Mastermind took the top prize in the Low Junior/Amateur-Owner Jumpers. They were the fastest double clear in a jump-off of eight entries in a class of 22. With the Pan Games in full swing, several ‘made in Canada’ equine athletes are competing on the international stage. Canadian Sport Horses ruled the Five-Year-Old division of the Jump Canada Young Horse Series National Finals held September 21 to 25 at the Canadian Show Jumping Tournament in Palgrave, Ontario. CSHs claimed the top three spots in the national final, with three others finishing in the top 10. Courtney Cummings of Leesburg, Virginia and her Canadian Sport Horse gelding Last Call won the Monarch International North American Adult Amateur Equitation at the 18th Annual Capital Challenge Horse Show in Upper Marlboro, Md. in early October.
