RIO SALADO started his show career in the Sport Horse line classes. He was successful at his first shows, and was awarded champion weanling at both the Canadian Sport Horse Futurity and at the Royal Winter Fair. As a three year old, he finished his line career in the Governor General's Cup and was second in the Lieutenant Governor's Cup.
Rio Salado showed very little in 2003, then showed in four of the Jumper Development classes as a five year old, winning the class at Palgrave in June 2004. After a year's abasence Rio Salado returned to the show ring and turned his attention to the hunter ring. In 2006 he won 2 Reserve Championships at Palgrave, and place fifth in the Ultimate Hunter Challenge for 6 & 7 year olds.
In 2007, he started the seadon with a Reserve Championship in the Hi/Low Working Hunter (3'6") at the Joke's Hill Spring Trillium Show at RCRA then competed successfully in the Combined Conformation Hunters, and Combined Regular Working Huntr divisions. Rio Salado is a kind and athletic horse who passes his abilities on to his offspring.
