Caddyshack B, a bay colt bred and owned by Sylvia Dixon and Beasley Sport Horses of Schomberg, Ontario is the winner of the Canadian Sport Horse Association’s National Foal Championships 2011. The big-moving colt is sired by Cardento, the Holsteiner stallion that helped earn silver team medals for Sweden at the 2002 World Equestrian Games and the 2004 Olympics and is out of the F1 Canadian Sport Horse mare Balou Babe by Balou du Rouet. For the first time, the National Foal Championships was held as a video competition and attracted 16 entries from across the country. Entries were judged via Youtube by Sue Ockenden, Bob Henselwood and Alan Wedge. In second place was Bejewelled, a black filly bred and owned by Tracy Hanes of Oshawa, Ontario. Bejewelled is by the Oldenburg stallion Banderas (Dreamscape Farm, Langley, B.C.), out of F1 CSH mare Fool for Love by Popeye K. Caddyshack B and Bejewelled both received First Premium scores (over 80) as did the third place foal, the chestnut colt Can-Traffic’s Greenlight (by Bliss out of Witsinaa) bred by Linda Chmiliar and owned by Shauna Cook of Sherwood Park, Alberta; and fourth-place Varczity, a bay filly by Alla C’zar out of Vaqueros Lark, bred by Darlene York and owned by Alicia Daley of Simcoe, Ontario and Guardian B, a bay colt by Gulliver's Travels out of Ali's Jewel also owned and bred by Sylvia Dixon & Beasley Farms. Mare owners looking to breed prospects for the 2013 National Foal Championships and possibly get a great deal on a stud fee, can take advantage of the CSHA Stallion Auction, to be held online from February 17 to 19, featuring an impressive lineup of CSH approved stallions representing all disciplines. A second round auction of any unsold stallion services will be held Monday, February 20. All foals resulting from the 2012 year’s stallion service auction will be eligible for free foal registration during the following calendar year with the Canadian Sport Horse Association provided the foal meets registration requirements. The 2012 CSHA Stallion Directory also features a comprehensive lineup of all CSH and CSHA approved stallions available for breeding.
