By Tracy Hanes

Courtney Cummings of Leesburg, Virginia and her Canadian Sport Horse gelding Last Call won the Monarch International North American Adult Amateur Equitation at the 18th Annual Capital Challenge Horse Show in Upper Marlboro, Md. in early October. The show is one of the most prestigious U.S. competitions for hunter riders.

Last Call, bred by Doug Dean, is by Cozy’s Commander out of Sabrina IV.

Cummings, 36 has owned and ridden the 12-year-old gelding for four years.

The pair went into the second over-fences class in the lead and was the final pair to go. With a score in the second class of 85.2, Cummings and Last Call had a total of 169.4.

Cummings did not show in equitation classes as a junior and enjoys the challenge of equitation since it requires a smooth, accurate ride.
