Hickstead features a rare combination of scope, power, technique, intelligence and temperament, all of which have been instrumental in his success. He represented Canada in 10 Nations Cup classes worldwide as well as winning individual Gold and Team Silver at the 2008 Olympic Games and Team Silver and Individual Bronze at the 2007 Pan Am Games. They claimed the richest annual event in show jumping, the $1 million CN International at the 2007 Spruce Meadows Masters.   2010 continued with victories in the "Prix du Conseil General de Loire" CSIO5* La Baule, France, the CSIO5*-TL NC Grand Prix in Rome, Italy; the prestigious $200,000 CN Reliability Grand Prix at the Spruce Meadows "National", the $200,000 ATCO Power Queen Elizabeth II Cup and Investor Group Cup, Spruce Meadows NA Tournament. In July, they placed at the top of rankings in the ROLEX Grand Prix CSIO5* in Aachen, Germany. At the World Equestrian Games in Lexington, KY, they won the Individual Bronze Medal and helped the Canadian Team to finish fifth overall. Hickstead jumped clear for all four of his riders in the World Championship decider class, earning him the prestigious title of "Best Horse" of the WEG.
