This survey-based study is distributed to Canadian horse enthusiasts, in order to determine industry prevalence and predominant opinions of horse welfare issues. The objectives are to understand industry management practices, rationale and frequency for contacting veterinarians, and attitudes toward behaviour and welfare. Two Canadian Sport Horses are in the spotlight this weekend at the Rolex Kentucky CCI 4* Three Day Event. It’s the most prestigious event in North America and the only four-star competition on the continent. In 2012, Ulla Brook’s homebred filly Café Noir (by Cabardino out of Penny’s English Thoroughbred mare Penny Black) hinted at her promise as a show horse by winning the Lieutenant Governor General’s Cup.
